So...

I had planned several different activities for today. There are so many things I want to do and so little time to make them happen.

I was planning to go watch making in Chiba first.

Then I thought, I`ll see Yokohama.

I ended up going to Tsutaya Books in Daikanyama.

It is a big, fun place where you can go alone and spend hours and hours reading, listening to music, drinking coffee, eating sweets, walking around... You can pick and read most of the books you like for free and skim through a magazine while listening to music and drinking coffee. This place has it`s own Starbucks, Family Mart and a stylish cafe lounge where they serve some coffee and tea. I needed a place to work on a project and I guess this is it! There are small tables that face the window. These tables for one are more private and therefore my favorite!

Couldn`t take any photos inside since it is forbidden but it`s worth seeing yourself so if you can, pay a visit to Tsutaya Books in Daikanyama.

A friend took me to his hair salon recently in Omotesandou. Japanese know how to treat a customer!! I layed down on a comfortable chair with a blanket to keep me warm and some professional fingers washing&massaging my head for about 5 minutes. Then I got the cut I wanted. Yoshii cut my hair in 5 minutes(takes the peeps in my country 2hours >_<) and then dyed it the color I wanted her to. A hair dresser who understands and gives a girl what she wants... I was really happy!!

Me, Andrea and Adam have this one thing in common: Lost in Translation. We all love the movie from the director to its soundtracks. So~ we decided to pay a visit to Park Hyatt Hotel`s New York Bar, located on the 52nd floor of Park Tower in Shinjuku. We were quite poor for the month so it was impossible to spend the night but we could experience the bar where the girl and the guy meet.

And so we did... Amazing view, great atmosphere, expensive drinks and live jazz.

It is 33 degrees outside with high humidity levels, I`m suffocating!! Almost impossible to breathe out there. Because of the previous reasons, this bar felt amazing for the first couple of minutes but then it got really cold!! Inside is -10 degrees!! Still, it was an amazing experience ;)

Wow~~ It's been a while since I last updated my blog. I've been tweeting a lot since it's easier to post photos via twitter with an iphone than to post photos on blogger =/

It's been a heck of a 3 weeks? I don't know how long it's been... After the double natural disaster which took place in Miyagi-ken and effected Tokyo to some extent as well, we had the 4 reactor troubles in Fukushima and I had my own personal problems to add to the previous. I am still tired, stressed but also feel very lucky and blessed to be alive.

Miyagi-ken(prefecture) and Fukushima, basically around 200km north of Tokyo, is of course NOT the same in any way but Tokyo has also changed a lot after the earth quake and tsunami.

The streets are packed, the lines don't run as often, the city looks dim and dead. Super markets and the convenient stores are almost empty by the after noon and people behave in a strange but calm manner which creeps me out.

We had so many after shocks in so many different magnitudes that even when we were not shaking, we thought that we were. It was quite nerve wracking!!

My room mate, after torturing herself and I by reading too much disastrous news on the reactors in Fukushima, have decided to leave Japan for good and went back to Korea in such a hurry that she left everything behind!! Everything includes her education, jobs, computer, clothes, books etc. As for me... I have decided to come back to Istanbul for a while mostly because of certain personal reasons.

International news... I really don't know where to start on that. Too many false news! I hated most international media, mostly CNN! Stopped reading or listening after the second day. International news was a lot of help making family and friends who are not in Japan worry sick and panic much more than they should have. They've done a great job on adding on to the stress of three disasters. Way to go!

I will be leaving for Tokyo on April 8. Most people here give me a hard time on my decision of going back but I feel like I have to and honestly, I want to!

Lately, I had no time to post on this blog since I went to school 5 days a week and worked on 3 different jobs 7 days a week. But this time, it seems like I will have some free time in my hands so I am willing to update more but I'm not promising anything.

I will post some past photos up which I have already shared on twitter.

Another Saturday...

Last night I went out for a little winter shopping in Harajuku. I usually don`t enjoy shopping though here is a different experience. Service here is top notch!! So shopping is more bearable.

After Harajuku I went to Soyhan and Aiko`s house for drinks. We had a fun night chatting, eating and drinking. Aiko`s cooking is the best and reminds me of home. Thank you Aiko for the delicious meal and thank you both for the great night! Hope Barrett did okay today...

When the night was over, we decided to try and walk to my place from their`s. Turns out, it`s a very easy walk!! I should buy a bike soon!!

In about an hour I will be leaving for Harajuku again for some more shopping with Aiko :)

Last Sunday, Fuyumi took me and Yi-Ru out for brunch. The original plan was to eat at the Kyushu festival near Yoyogi though it wasn`t as exciting and big as the Hokkaido festival so instead Fuyumi took us to this Panya(Bread Shop) down in Omotesdandou.

For the ones who don`t know or remember: Meros is the name of my language school.

Last night, I met up with a Turkish friend who has been living in Tokyo for about 4 years. He`s married to a cute Japanese woman whose Turkish happens to be better than my Japanese^^;
I realized how much I missed speaking Turkish and it hasn`t even been that long since I have spoken my mother tongue. Oh well...

We went around Ikebukuro East and West. I guess I have gotten the hang of the area quite a bit yesterday. Thanks a bunch SOyhan!!!!! I ended up coming home pretty late.\ and because of that, I had a difficult time waking up this morning. I had to be at school by 9AM in the morning for the orientation. Loads of speaches translated to Chinese, Korean and English... I probably slept through most of it ^^;

After the orientation we had dinner with a Swedish friend(Nils) and went to Tokyu Hands to buy our "hanko". Hanko is the stamp which all Japanese must own: has the kanji, katakana or hiragana of their name engraved on it. They use it for signing documents. We ordered our hanko and went out for a coffee until it was the time to go pick them up. (I will post photos as soon as possible).

By the way... I`ve got the afternoon class >< I really really wanted to attend a morning class!! TOmorrow, I will talk to my teacher and try to convince him/her to transfer me to a morning class. Wish me luck!!

I`m so sorry for not being updating! My lap top decided to stop functioning on my second day at the house. My room mate has been kind enough to let me use her computer though I could not write on my blog through that PC...

Pretty soon I will be buying an iphone4. Why? Because it is one of the cheapest phones and deals you can get over here in Japanland which is a bit odd for me since iphone4 is pretty damn expensive in Istanbul!

Noisy Neighbors...

Turns out... Our next door neighbors are Chinese. No wonder the Japanese I heard made no sense. The girls in the house say that the neighbors get loud during dinner and lunch.

Two Korean girls(one being my room mate) are very fluent in Japanese. I feel horrible! Need to learn fast!!

Hopefully, I'll be done with all the packing tomorrow. Still need to buy some things for the house, most important being the food!!

Hope tonight won't be so cold!!

Went to Ikebukuro Donki to buy a pillow and a blanket. It's a huge Donki(sounds weird^^;)!! Didn't have the energy to look through it all so went back home after dropping by Muji real quick. Muji is very big as well and as far as I could tell, worth the next visit.

So I'm off to bed now.

Shioiri Yokohama

On my last day at Yokosuka we payed a visit to an Izakaya in Shioiri Yokohama. You might have heard of Shioiri... It's the place where the US Navy Base in Yokohama is. There were some incidents in the past regarding some American kids fighting with town's people and harassing Japanese women... Because of these past incidents 19 year olds and under are no more allowed in the town after 11PM. The place was full of American style bars, restaurants and well... Americans.

We met up with Azusa in Shioiri for dinner and later went to KARAOKEEEEE~ ;p

Karaoke... They made it so you sound better than you actually sing ;p

Cold noodles with kimchi. North Korean food.

Onigiri(rice balls) with salmon and some sour beans.

A kind of sake... They pour until the drink spills to the plate under. After you drink a bit, you pour the sake on the plate in your glass.

Appetizers... Can't say much, didn't taste =/

Michiko's House

Michiko was kind enough to let me stay at her house in Yokosuka. Was a traditional two story Japanese wooden house. The bath even warms up by throwing dry wood into the little oven located around the back of the house, close to the bath.

They live with their two dogs Muu and Kuu. Everyone was so welcoming and kind, I'm really appreciative!(By the way I have some crazy neighbors with strange Japanese accent who seem to be quite loud, it's kind of annoying!!I'm trying to write here!! Urusaina~ojisan!)

Mosquito killer scent. Really worked! I wonder if it would work on the mutant mosquitoes in Istanbul...

And Kuu ^^ She loves it when someone pets her tummy. She made late night and early morning visits to my room just to be pet :D

To me, Japanland can also be called the "konbiniland". There are loads of convenient stores and supermarket(suupaa), some big some small. Though they are all fun to visit. The one I love so far is Donki. The name comes from Cervantes' novel Don Quixote. It's very cheap and great in surprising you with its contents! Inside looks like a labyrinth with products piled up on top of each other reaching the ceiling. Almost looks like a huge jenga play ground!

In case you or any person you know need some breasts to sleep on... Actually, there were loads of other things which were more interesting than this breast pillow though I was a bit shy to take their picture... In time...

This is my 5th day here in Japan... Guess I shouldn't be surprised not being able to see much but still, I was hoping to see more in 5 days! Typhoon got the best of my 5 days(most from Yokosuka) but it's alright.

Right now, I'm in my own flat trying to figure out how to arrange everything but I'll get to that later.

Miurakaigan is a small town in Yokosuka between the sea and the mountains.

On the above photos you can see Fuji-san^^ Was a clear day. We climbed up the mountain for this view with bicycles.

After a not so dramatic farewell at the airport and an hour delay for take off I finally board the plane and head for Tokyo. Zey and Asli; thank you so much coming all the way to the airport just to say "goodbye!!" I cried a bit today but just a bit! I missed you all already but I won`t be the drama queen and let the mood set in. I`ll just shake it off and think about it again when I get used to here :P
Weird thing, the plane did not scare me one bit! And at some point, I really thought that we might fall but I was calm. I don`t know what`s gotten into me but whatever it is, I hope it stays for good!
Turkish Airlines food has developed quite a bit since I last traveled. I had grilled salmon with mashed potatos and red wine. The usual omlette in the morning still smelled like it was cooked at the motor section of the plane... Tastes, looks and smells horrific! Couldn`t sleep one bit; there was a technical problem so we could only begin to watch movies and play games after about 2 hours we boarded the plane.
Customs etc was no problem. My luggages arrived a bit late and I had a VERY hard time pulling the big luggage from the band and even a harder time placing it on the cart!
My luggages weighed more than I do: 44.5kg. No extra fee was payed! Phew~
Met up with Michiko right away, bought a train ticket for Yokosuka, changed about 4-5 trains and got home after 3-4 hours of train ride which was exhausting. It was impossible to NOT mind the gap with my huge, heavy luggage in each station we got off and on. I felt like Xena, pulling that big thing in and out of the train with no trouble what so ever.
The weather is nice for now, don`t know how it will be tomorrow. Hoping not so hot and humid!
It`s currently 2AM here in Tokyo and I don`t feel like sleeping.
Idiotic of me, I forgot my lap top`s charger at home! I`m waiting for my parents to send it to me here. Until I get my charger, it will almost be impossible to post photos.
I won`t talk about the house now because I want to upload loads of photos and let it speak for itself.

Don't let the pile fool you. I ended up leaving more than half of what you see in this photo behind.

One of the 2 heels I own. Plan is: collect more in Tokyo and WEAR THEM!

Socks are nicely packed :) Ended up squeezing them in the luggage one by one =/

Same packing technique used on socks were also applied on meds.

I've had this dream of a long term stay in Japan. Weird because I usually get bored and tired of an interest fast. I surprised myself with this one... Wanting and wanting and whining and whining~ I cried "Japan" a lot over the past few years to my family and friends. I've basically tortured my friends talking non-stop about Japan and almost nothing but Japan. Some of them might even be happy to be sending me off ^^;

So the time has finally come for take-off!! I'm finally leaving for Tokyo for a stay which will last at least a year and a half but who knows... A new life, a new beginning~ New people, new place, new faces and all the other "new"s you see and experience at a new place.

Here, I shall share my days in Tokyo with people I know and with people who will be curious to what and how I'm doing out there. But also, it will be kind of an online diary :P
